TARIS is the common name of four cooperative Unions, whose roots go back to
the 1910s, initially organized on the basis of fig and grape, then cotton and
olive oil products. Each of these four Unions has a separate legal personality.
The word "TARİŞ" consists of the first syllables of Tarım Bankası (Ziraat
Bankası) and İş Bankası, which were the banks that supported the Union in its
founding years.
TARIS; today, it continues to be the common brand of four different producer
organizations, to which approximately 100,000 producer partners are organized
and 106 cooperatives are affiliated, in 7 provinces in the Aegean Region.
The foundation of the Tariş Grape Union was laid in 1931 in Alaşehir and later
in Manisa, Turgutlu and Salihli with the Vineyards Cooperative, in order to stop

Depression.
The Bağcılar Cooperative, which started its activities as a producer's
cooperative, merged with the Grape Institution (Tariş Ltd.Şti), which was
established jointly by Türkiye İş ve Ziraat Bankası in order to regulate the
grape market, and continued its activities as the Tariş Grape Association.
